{"id":142,"date":"2018-08-28T22:04:47","date_gmt":"2018-08-28T22:04:47","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/playersturf.cirv.com\/?page_id=142"},"modified":"2018-08-28T22:05:06","modified_gmt":"2018-08-28T22:05:06","slug":"algin-sutton","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"http:\/\/www.playersturfusa.com\/fields\/algin-sutton\/","title":{"rendered":"Play Court Algin Sutton Recreation Center"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Department of Recreation and Parks, in partnership with Nike and LA84, is dedicating a high-tech &#8220;Play Court&#8221; at Algin Sutton Recreation Center in South Los Angeles.<\/p>\n<p>The new synthetic multipurpose field replaces an old volleyball court and was installed by Nike through its &#8220;Let Me Play&#8221; program. The &#8220;Let Me Play&#8221; that provides grants to community groups and government agencies to support the promotion of sports in an effort to get youth active.<\/p>\n<p>Algin Sutton&#8217;s refurbished field incorporates Nike Grind, recycled material from footwear manufacturing and worn out or outdated shoes. Nike Grind is used in sports surfaces such as basketball courts, running tracks, soccer fields and playgrounds. For each sports field constructed with Nike Grind, approximately 75,000 pairs of shoes and many pounds of rubber manufacturing waste do not end up in landfills.<\/p>\n<p>The &#8220;Play Court&#8221; is the first completed play surface that is part of the commitment between Nike and LA84 to build and\/or refurbish 84 playgrounds throughout Los Angeles.<\/p>\n<p>Nike Inc., is the world&#8217;s leading designer, marketer and distributor of authentic athletic footwear, apparel, equipment and accessories for a wide variety of sports and fitness activities.<\/p>\n<p>The LA84 Foundation was established to manage Southern California&#8217;s share of the surplus from the highly successful 1984 Olympic Games in Los Angeles.
